A very important insight here, Nathan. The metaphor that works for me for Logos, Ethos and Pathos is Rider, Reign and Horse. The horse can be good or bad (wild or not), same with the reign can be too much or not enough. You need the reason of the rider of the chariot for ultimate judgment and guidance.

This is a really great metaphor, I like it! Where did you first hear it, or did you come up with that yourself?

I was unable to find the source via AI this morning but various psychologists have adapted aristotle and plato's original works on this: The rider and horse metaphor for the soul—where the rider represents reason and the horse symbolizes emotion or passion—has been used by multiple thinkers, but its earliest and most influential form comes from Plato.
